Set on a fictional continent reminiscent of Europe in the 1930s, Valkyria Chronicles depicts a region divided between two superpowers: the Empire and the Federation. The Empire plans to invade Gallia, a small nation caught between the two superpowers, to grab its natural resources. Welkin and his comrades-in-arms of the Federation’s 7th Platoon battle the invaders as the Empire attempts to bring the continent under its yoke. During this war, the Federation discovers that the Empire possesses a secret weapon, the “Valkyria”: an ancient race whose legendary powers were only a myth.
